12th February (third day). Maiden Test hundred for the New Zealand wicket-keeper, this landmark also achieved by Jeff Crowe earlier. Rain delays punctuated play although Chatfield entrance amusing. Sound quality not great, apologies.

23rd August. Magnificent cameo in fading light on the second evening, unfortunately dismissed without addition the following day.
Graeme Hick (93*), Tom Moody (88*) - NatWest Final 1994
Переглядів 14 тис.10 років тому
4th September (second day). After rain-interrupted opening day and an uncertain start, Worcestershire cruised to victory by eight wickets against treble-chasing Warwickshire. Tom Moody was named man of the match after also taking 1-17 from his 12 overs.

9th August, The Oval. Thrilling match, run-fest with shortened boundaries. Unbroken third wicket partnership of 309 between Tim Curtis and Tom Moody remains List A record.
Trevor Ward 80, Kent v Warwickshire, Birmingham 1994
Переглядів 1,4 тис.10 років тому
9th August, NatWest Trophy Semi-Final. Somewhat surprised Trevor Ward never achieved national recognition in one-day cricket. Golden era for Warwickshire (winners by eight runs) although comprehensively defeated by Worcestershire in the Final.
Richard Hadlee 92*, v England, Nottingham 1983

Final day of series (England won by 165 runs). Cricketers seemed just as interested in the aeronautical display above. Impressive series for the New Zealand all-rounder.
IT Botham/DW Randall, v New Zealand, Nottingham 1983
Переглядів 301 тис.10 років тому
Final Test of series (England won by 165 runs). Entering at 169/5 with a long tail in wait, Derek Randall, on home turf, assisted Ian Botham in adding 186 for the sixth wicket in 32 overs, a little over two hours, of scintillating batting.
Geoff Boycott 2/15 v Australia, Lord's 1979 (CWC)
Переглядів 266 тис.10 років тому
England's opening match of 1979 World Cup (comfortable win by six wickets). Australia weakened due to Packer involvement. His first bowl in ODIs, Boycott also proved an unlikely golden arm for Yorkshire that summer.

With so much spin bowling in Indian subcontinent they fell to an ordinary spinner
Great days as a kid watching cricket like this all day...just about to watch England vs west indies as i type this in 2024
Great bowler Charly Griffith
I have always thought England used Derek Randall badly. He batted in every position from 1 to 7 and rarely had a settled run in any of them. He was often a batting scapegoat who was dropped when others, too, failed. Although he scored a test century as an opener, he could be a nervous starter. His best position as a batsman was in the lower middle order. He was a real gent too. I remember watching a county championship game between Notts and Glamorgan at Retford. He spent the whole of the lunch break on the outfield signing autographs for kids. Nothing was too much trouble, and he had a word with every kid who approached him. Players don't do that now. Few did then!
This is the best version of this song. I'm currently learning to play this on ukulele This song makes me cry

Arkle and Beefy playing together

Keep the county cricket upload’s coming
I think we all know that black people are always better than white except maybe silly things like swimming diving skiing
Botham like always a garbage bowler. He was lucky early on to get helpful conditions to get those wickets. Flintoff and Stokes way ahead as an all rounder.
In this match, with the Waugh brothers bowling, Hick got to feast on the same type of medium pace rubbish he was regularly smashing about in the English County Championship at that time. Problem was, once someone bowled 80 mgh plus with short ones and Yorkers he was all over the place.
Amazing
All the way from Aotearoa Ngaruawahia Rastafari
Excellent. I remember the series, we were glued to the screen (or the radio. Dexter was a fine sight, though he tended to get out before making a ton, as here. The pace and aggression of Hall and Griffith marked the summer, and Cowdrey’s broken arm was a reminder that cricket is dangerous. The great hero for England was Close, absolutely fearless and indomitable.
RIP CUSH 💚
Great Lankans❤️👍🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️
Graeme Hick was a destructive batsman, would been a batting great if not treated badly by English selectors. His Test average from 1993 to 1996 was 45 against great bowling attacks. Anyhow he was a wonderful player.
First time I saw them Cambridge 1986, far and away the best act of the weekend. Saw them last week Shepherds Bush Empire, just as good as ever. R.I.P. Cush you are missed.
Griffith was a thrower . As Dexter said his fast ball was nearly unplayable because he threw it.

bowlers are allowed to wear their caps while bowling ...
Such a wonderfully English scene - Sunday afternoon cricket in the gloom with the crowd stoically watching the game with their umbrellas.
*so good*
Great innings by Ian Botham.
There is long boundary in Australia.
As good as HIck's batting was here, the way Warne sets up Maynard is wonderful. Long hop full toss, perfect flipper. Fabulous.
I remember sitting in the crowd watching this 😊
New Zealand had a good bowling attack.
How good did Trent Bridge look 👍 Now it's the size of a postage stamp, ruined.
The days of the ubiquitous Peter West. My dad called him Mr Happy because he always looked so miserable.
Randall was a great batsman but an even better fielder. Loved him when I went to trent bridge to watch Notts play. He would chat to you all the time
Tremendous Commentators, Incredible Voice s ❤ 💯🏏 🇮🇳
Bigup bigup 2k23 en kanaky et jusk'a wiii🎉👏👌🎶❤
Jack Richards England wicket keeper.
I don't want Australia to add 2023 & 2027 titles to their 5 that is more than enough plus 2021 T20 World Champions.
Ken Mc Clay Simon Davis Simon O ' Donnell Leonard ( Lenny) Pascoe yesterday's Australian heroes 1986/87 Australia not yet World Champions today they have 5 titles .
The golden age of test and county cricket before it was destroyed by sky just like they destroyed football.
